Torquay United chairman Mike Bateson held a press conference earlier today.

To cut a long story short, nothing major has been announced.

Bateson has said that he is here until the end of the season and has urged all fans to support the team.

He confirmed that Chris Robert’s company owns 34% of Torquay United shares but his own 51% majority was now activated and so Roberts will receive no money and has nothing to do with the club.

Bateson also confirmed that the Educational Soccer Development Programme in conjunction with Paignton College would remain in place.

The Gulls chairman concluded by saying that he has met the players and is sorting out the outstanding accounts.

Bateson said ‘The finances are in a poor state by TU standards but there are 60 or more clubs in the league who would happily swap debt levels with us.’

That was about it really!

Bateson returns the gulls were in the same situation a few seasons ago with him, I doubt he will be able to make a difference.
