Torquay did well to keep the scores at nil a piece in a tight fought battle at Plainmoor this thursday evening. Both teams had good chances and to have remained goalless, the keepers, and defences, had to be on top form.
It was a return to football for Scott Bevan who has been out since the before the playoffs with injury. He pulled off a string of saves i nthe second half to save Torquay from defeat. There was also an appearance from a favorite of mine, Blair Sturrock. He was, in my humble opinion, very useful in the last 5 games for Torquay last year and am hoping that he will feature next year in some way. His experience will be invaluable in a league where Sills has struggles inthe past and neither Benyon or Joyce have played.
Torquay have been playing well in pre-season this year. The only slip-up being against Bristol Rovers, although this was when trying out the 4-1-4-1 formation. I have had abuse when walking in Bristol this week when wearing the yellow of Torquay and, although I know why, I don’t believe is fair. With still more practice and games to go before the league I feel that the Gulls are in a strong position and I cant wait for the 8th.

One better than Exeter who lost 3.1 or was it 4.1
