It’s the end of the week and so it’s time for me to discuss my rants and raves of the week regarding Torquay United.

RANT

Chairman: After holding a Fans’ Forum last week, we were all looking forward to life with Keith Richardson as Chairman. However, he has now gone after just 10 days as he was fired! Unbelieveable and I genuinely feel sorry for the guy.

So then who do we get back? The Bateson clan! Mike Bateson, the very same person who sold us to Chris Roberts and who together have almost destroyed this club. I used to quite like him but my opinion of him has changed over the last six months.

I don’t like his smugness and just hope somebody who isn’t insane and has money will buy us in the summer.

RANT

Boston United: Yet again it seems like Boston will avoid punishment from the FA after it was claimed somebody is about to buy them out of trouble. One day they will get there comeuppance.

RAVE

Three Points: After a run of seven game without a win, we finally managed to finish the 90 minutes with three points!

I’m delighted for Keith Curle as this was his first victory in charge and it was nice to see us pretty much dominate a game rather than scrape a 1-0 win.

We should have beaten Wycombe by six or seven but I think we’re all happy with just the three! We are creating chances and that’s a very good thing.

RAVE

New Players: Marvin Williams and Chris Robertson were brilliant on their debuts against Wycombe.

Williams has raw pace, skill and an eye for goal. He scored, set up one and could have grabbed another. He could be crucial in our attempts to beat the drop.

Robertson defended well throughout and also managed to score and looked assured at the back, something we have lacked of late.

RAVE

Clean Sheet: Our first clean sheet in 24 games! Simon Rayner looks like a good keeper and to not concede on his home debut is a massive plus.

Stanley Points Deduction: Accrington Stanley are in trouble with the FA after fielding ineligible players. They could be deducted points which would certainly help us out.

I’d feel a little sorry for them if this was to happen but I don’t care how we avoid relegation as long as we do!

RAVE

Six Points Adrift: We’ve cut the gap to six points and with games against Stanley, Boston and Wrexham to play, we still have a chance.


That’s all then for this week’s Rants and Raves. Good luck to the boys away at Accrington next Saturday. It’s arguably our biggest game of the season although every game is crucial at this stage of the campaign.
